Come out for an evening of board games and fun. These will be strategy-type games, generally geared toward middle school age and beyond. Snacks and water will be provided. Bring a game you’d like to share, bring soda to share, bring a friend, or just bring yourself – we’ll have a bunch of games here – maybe you’ll learn new one! Questions? Ask Pastor Dave.

Anyone who is learning or experienced in any needle art is welcome to participate. We meet from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the 2nd floor lounge and enjoy great fellowship as we create scarves and hats for several different charities, as well as work on our own projects.

Relay for LifeThe Gardner MA “Relay For Life,” June 8-9, 2018

This event is held at the Mt. Wachusett Community College (MWCC) track from 6 p.m., Friday, June 8 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 9. The American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

There is no church team this year, but Paula d’Entremont, our parish nurse, is walking with the Survivors and Friends team, which she has done since the beginning of this annual event in 1994. You can support the event by sponsoring her. She has luminaria bags available in the church Welcome Center. These bags are lit at 9 p.m. on Friday evening and line the track in memory or honor of loved ones who have had cancer. A suggested contribution for these bags is $5; make checks out to the American Cancer Society. These events are on the schedule:

6:00 p.m. – Opening ceremony, Survivors’ Lap

9:00 p.m. – Luminaria Ceremony

10:00 a.m. – Caregivers’ Lap
 6:00 p.m. – Closing Ceremony

If anyone would like to make a donation to the American Cancer Society, see any of us. You may donate online here. You can choose an individual or make a team donation.

13th Annual Mid-Summerfest and Talent Fair

Bethany’s 14th annual Mid-Summerfest and Talent Fair will be held on June 24th, 5:30-7:00 p.m.

Midsummerfest is the traditional Scandinavian way to kick off the summer season, complete with strawberries and ice cream, recitations, musical instrument and vocal performances to hobbies and crafts. We combine these two occasions for a wonderful evening of fellowship and celebration. (Bethany Baptist Church began as the Swedish Baptist Church in 1895.)

Musical and dramatic presentations, along with Singspiration, will be held in the Sanctuary starting at 5:30 p.m. Come prepared with your favorite hymns for Singspiration before adjourning to Fellowship Hall for the crafts and hobbies displayed there, along with the ice cream and fresh strawberries social.  Speak to Ted Cushing about your resource needs (pianist, sound, etc.).
