Joseph & Baby Jesus Xmas 2016 ProgramChristmas Across America Workshop

This year’s family advent activity, sponsored by the C.E. Board and John Hamel, Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship, was called “The True Reason for the Season.” It started at 2:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall on Sunday December 11, 2016. Families worked together on crafts and activities and heard the Christmas Story brought to life by Mr. Hamel with his “Christmas Across America” program. They also helped decorate the tree and enjoyed festive snacks. This was a wonderful opportunity for families to take time to slow down, be together, and focus on the birth of Jesus.

Shown here is a scene from the re-enactment of the Nativity story.

Deaconess Xmas GiftsDeaconess Christmas Gift Program

This year (2016), the members of the Deaconess Board contacted a local school and learned that there were many families who would not be able to provide any Christmas gifts for their children this year. The deaconesses invited the church family to sign up for a family or family member (adults or children) and bring in a wrapped gift. The school representative who picked up the gifts was overwhelmed by the generosity of the church — the gifts filled the entire back of her SUV.

Shown here are members of the board who helped to organize and catalog the gifts before sending them to the families.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

This is the night when we celebrate the Savior’s birth at our annual Christmas Eve service. We hear the story of Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, the shepherds in the fields watching the great star and other Scriptures, and Christmas anthems sung by our choir; we also sing traditional carols, hear a message of hope, and conclude with passing of the light, culminating in a candlelit rendition of ‘Silent Night.’
